Le Grand Monde d’Andy Warhol

The exhibition “Le grand Monde d’Andy Warhol”, at the Grand Palais in Paris, presents a selection of nearly 250 works among the impressive “portraits gallery” made by Andy Warhol from the 60’s to his death.
The pieces in this Grand Palais exhibition have never been brought together in a single show before.
To create his portraits, in his workshop known as « Factory », developed a systematic process at the beginning of the 1970s : make up and photography of his models using a Big Shot Polaroid,selection of snapshots, painting.
The Grand Palais presents for the first time this extensive set of paintings which makes up an unprecedented archive in the history of painting and photography.
In 1962, Andy Warhol painted portraits of Marilyn Monroe, of her rival Liz Taylor, Elvis Presley and the Mona Lisa he created, on request, portraits of dozens of diverse personalities, famous and unknowns, painting a picture of an entire society, and introducing a new form of serial, almost industrial artistic production.
