Minutiae is the earliest and one of the largest freestanding combines that Rauschenberg created. It was constructed for dancer Merce Cunningham’s ballet.Minutiae is a combine of oil paint, paper, fabric, newspaper, wood, metal, plastic with mirror, and string on a wooden structure with a beaded framework.
Also, it looks like more extraordinary and fascinating. He displays us the boundaries of what art could be. I think, these colors has perfect harmony. So,i really like it.
The catalogue notes that the work “is one of the earliest and largest of Freestanding Combines Rauschenberg made,” adding that the artist “created a structure that would be used, not so much as a set, but as an object in space which the dancers would communicate with on state.” “Like all of Rauschenberg’s Combines, Minutiae sings in its lavish, yet delicate presentation. The present work may be seen as a formal exercise in the elaborate arrangement of shape, color and texture. It may also be seen to contain a mysterious, idiosyncratic code; as if Rauschenberg has provided us with a riddle, and our task is to unravel its various meanings. Though his deliberate lack of order, achieving any sense of the whole seems a difficult, even futile exercise.

Bruce Munro who is lighting designer created fields of light. The idea was inspired by the way the desert flowers after a rainstorm. Also, these lightings in England and have 15.000 lights. Also, he explains his feelings by these sentences’And like dry desert seeds lying in wait for the rain, the sculpture’s fibre optic stems lie dormant until darkness falls, and then under a blazing blanket of stars they flower with gentle rhythms of light.’I think, this creation is glamorous , when i analysed the other photos, the scene is really spectacular. Also, he makes fun of nature by this lighting.
